Blue Ridge Mountain Home

Set deep within the Blue Ridge Mountains, this Lighthouse Sauna was placed high along a winding mountain road, overlooking expansive views of the range below. Positioned adjacent to a modern A-frame residence, the sauna was designed to feel closely related to the home’s architecture while existing quietly in the surrounding landscape.

Placed within a region known for harsh terrain and unpredictable weather patterns, this build required the intentional material selections that define our building standards at Harbor. Clad in our Black Viking exterior treatment, the sauna carries a durable, time-tested finish suited for repeated freeze-thaw cycles and heavy rains. Over time, the materials will patina and weather naturally within the forested setting.

Designed to age with intention over many demanding seasons, the Lighthouse Sauna feels quietly embedded within its environment. Closely aligned with the modern form of the existing home, yet shaped by the realities of mountain living, the structure reads as a natural extension of the site. Set back within the trees and oriented toward the landscape below, the sauna offers a deliberate, enduring place of use. A working structure built for longevity, shaped by climate, and grounded in restraint.
