01
Discovery
Our website is designed to provide a complete overview of Harbor, giving insight into our core models, pricing, material selections, and built work. Each sauna is presented with intention, allowing you to evaluate design language, layout, and integration into your property or comprehensive project scope.
This stage is meant to be informative and for many, provides a clear path forward. If your project aligns with one of our standard models, you are able to place your order with confidence in the established design, materiality, and specifications that comprise our builds.
02
Inquiry
When a project requires further discussion, we begin collaboratively refining the details to ensure mutual fit and long-term vision between Harbor and the client.
This is where we explore any adjustments to the build, review site conditions, and discuss installation logistics. We’ll advise on what’s feasible, what’s recommended, and how to approach the project in a way that holds up over time, ultimately supporting the approach and intention behind our sauna builds.
These early conversations are focused and practical, ensuring that before moving into design or production, the direction is clear and grounded in the realities of the site and intended use of the sauna.
03
Design
For projects that extend beyond the standard customizations offered directly on our website, we move into a more tailored design process. Working directly with our team, we refine the sauna to align with your specific project scope.
Each decision is made with consideration for how the structure will perform, how it will age, and ultimately sit within its surroundings.
The process is collaborative, but measured. We move with clarity, ensuring the design is fully resolved before it enters production. This phase can accommodate any desired timeframe, moving quickly to enter your sauna into our production queue, or working together over many months within the scope of additional home projects to ensure alignment between the sauna and the site.
04
Site Preparation
Once the design is finalized and your project enters our production queue, attention shifts to preparing the site and for the sauna installation.
We work directly alongside you and any applicable contractors to provide foundation and electrical requirements, coordinate access, and final placement. Each detail is addressed ahead of time so that installation is seamless.
A well-prepared site and clear communication in this phase allows the installation to happen efficiently, with a clear understanding of exactly how the sauna will arrive and be set in place.
05
Installation
Each sauna is delivered pre-assembled and ready for placement.
Our team manages the installation process from start to finish, coordinating the appropriate equipment based on site conditions, whether utilizing our standard installation method or a crane-assisted placement. The sauna is then positioned precisely and prepared for final electrical connection.
We approach installation in two phases: placement of the sauna, followed by electrical connection. Separating these steps allows each to be handled with care, avoiding delays and ensuring no part of the process is rushed.
In many cases, the sauna can be operational the same day, depending on coordination and site readiness.
Frequently Asked Questions
Production is initiated as soon as you submit payment to Harbor. You are welcome to complete payment at any point, but failure to complete this step in a timely manner may result in delays with your sauna build.
Lead times vary slightly based on order volume and the material selections in your sauna. Generally, we recommend allowing for anywhere from 8-12 weeks for your build to be completed, but it is possible that it can be completed in as a little as 6 weeks.
Opting for base materials like Knotted Select Cedar will provide a shorter build due to availability and ease of use in building. Materials such as Thermally Modified Ash may require special ordering and involve a bit more precision in the build process. If you have questions about our lead times based your desired selections, please reach out to our team at info@harborsaunas.com.
Shipping within 550 miles of our manufacturing facility generally can be completed within one day, while further distances will require additional days. This will vary based on proximity to our manufacturing facility.
Please schedule a consultation with our team to discuss additional customizations or custom sauna projects.
our design team can work with you to build any custom sauna project. Whether you'd like to make customizations beyond what is readily available to the models in our portfolio, or you'd like to discuss a fully custom build, our team is able to bring it to life.
Please schedule a consultation to discuss your project scope with a member of our studio.
If you are working with Harbor on a custom sauna project, your order will be placed directly with our team. Once you have approved the design and pricing associated with your build, our team will provide a full proposal for review and signing.
Upon signing a proposal, our team will provide an invoice to collect the deposit, which places your build in our production queue.
We deliver your sauna fully assembled on the pre-arranged delivery day. Upon arrival at your site, our team will use a special forklift to easily deliver your sauna onto your prepared site. Our team will work with you to place it exactly where you want it and work to ensure it is level. You will need your electrician or contractor to assist with completing the final electrical hookup before you can use your sauna.
There are several options to choose from to prepare your site prior to delivery. We recommend preparing a level pad of either stone or concrete in the area you want your sauna to be placed upon delivery. The size of the site will vary based upon the footprint of the model you purchase. You will need to run 240V electric to the sauna, so consider the distance from your power source when choosing a location.
We recommend consulting with a local contractor or 3rd-party site prep service to ensure this is done correctly prior to delivery.
Our Site Prep Guide will walk you through the necessary steps and considerations to get your site ready for installation.
If you purchased the ORCA Sauna or worked with our studio to add this shower to a custom sauna project, there are several considerations for preparing the site accordingly.
The ORCA Outdoor Shower will arrive pre-installed on the sauna unit and ready for final on-site hookup. The plumber will need to connect hot and cold water lines to the exposed 1” copper pipe stubs provided at the shower connection point. These connections must be soldered using standard fittings supplied by the plumber. If the water supply run exceeds 50 feet from the main water heater, we recommend installing an inline water heater on or near the sauna to ensure consistent hot water delivery at the shower.
For additional shower usage and maintenance instructions, please consult our Outdoor Shower Guide.
A precarious location for installation is a space that our team is unable to access without the use of a crane. Our team requires a minimum 10' wide by 13' high access, and can go up and down rather steep and rocky terrain. However, we are unable to go over trees, or up, down, and over large drops such as a wall or rock outcropping.
If you have any concerns prior to installation that your site may fall into this category, please contact our team and we will help assess your situation and find a solution prior to the day of delivery day.
