Placed with surrounding views of the Catskill Mountains, our Iska Sauna was reimagined to reflect the iconic architectural language of Scribner's Catskill Lodge. Working collaboratively with the team at Scribner's, Harbor was tasked with designing a sauna experience that felt like a natural extension of one of the region's most notable hospitality destinations.
The sauna itself incorporates notable design elements from both the lodge and Harbor's core builds. While Harbor's form, detailing, and notable raw brass fixtures remain at the core of the design, the exterior was thoughtfully adapted to reflect the character of the existing lodge. Custom black pine board-and-batten cladding, paired with a natural marine-grade finished porch, references the lodge's iconic exterior while remaining true to Harbor's approach in sauna design.
Beyond its architectural expression, the sauna was designed to meet the demands of daily hospitality use. In addition to the intentional material and finish selections found on the exterior, the sauna utilizes a commercial-grade Harvia Virta Pro 20kW heater and a thoughtfully planned interior space. The result will accommodate years of continuous guest operation without compromising the elevated experience expected from both Harbor and Scribner's.
The result creates an experience that feels inherently connected to its surroundings and seamlessly integrated into the identity of the lodge - built to endure the rhythms of mountain hospitality for years to come.
